What just happened!??!!
Okay - so I am officially and unexpectedly unemployed due to a series of unfortunate occurences. Who would have thought the writers strike in Hollywood would effect my staffing job in Texas!??! The abruptness with which our company shut its doors was mind boggling! I am still reeling, though trying to work to help our end client transition. I am currently working for free (my application for saint hood is pending, this should help). I am hoping in some way, I will be able to get paid for the 3 days I have worked non-stop to help pick up the pieces scattered by the toppling of a big company involved in many different areas. My prayers go out to all those who are in a much worse situation than I am. I think I will be employed by the end of today, at least temporarily for the transition, so wish me luck!

I feel you on being unemployed. Sorry your out of a job because of the writer's strike!
I am a paralegal who landed a job with one of those great firms people hope to get into right after school. Well, who would have thought that the legal world could get low on work????? Anyway, that's what happened, and so just before Christmas I was out of a job. It's scary. Each day I try to hold on to some semblence of a normal life. I try to remain positive and try to believe that things get better. But, when unemployment doesn't cover even the basic bills things can look bleak.
Anyway, I know there are others out there in worse positions than myself. Here's to all of us making it up the ladder of life! : )
